Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPIs) Increase Mortality Risk: PPIs are linked to liver damage,  chronic kidney disease, heart disease, pneumonia, bone fractures, Clostridium difficile infection,  dementia, and Alzheimer’s. Added to all these an additional study using data from the US Department of Veterans Affairs shows an increased risk of death. It only makes sense that if long-term use of PPIs cause so many health issues that life expectancy would be decreased.
